A tent system can fit more people, and requires more setup time. Neither is better, both options are valid. People who choose to camp in a tent, carry different gear, than people who choose to camp in a vehicle. Some work better with a tent, some work better with a car, some work better with both. While my backpacking gear is fancy-pants ultralight, high tech and expensive, my wife and I have survived many a downpour at campgrounds in the humble Coleman SunDome tent. Admittedly, I'm looking at a Gazelle popup tent to shave a few camp setup steps, but currently the dome tent setup is a 5 minute job between my wife and I. If you're a smaller sized person with minimal gear load, I guess I see it but it just seems like way more effort to accommodate interior bed space than use that same space for gear and pack a simple tent.
